Why do we need different types of Sentences?
The answer to this is very simple. It is like we have a readymade pizza in front of us but we still sprinkle more salt or pepper etc. on it to make it taste better. Similarly we use a variety of sentences to make our writing interesting. Moreover a very long sentence might be difficult to understand.
About different type of Sentences:
We discussed earlier about Simple, Complex and Declarative Sentence. Now let us move forward.
About a Compound Sentence
Compound sentence consists of two clauses which are joined together by a coordinator. In a long sentence we use a comma before a coordinator.
What is a Declarative Sentence?
When we make a statement, the sentence we have in front of us is a declarative sentence.
Difference between a Declarative, Imperative, Exclamatory and Interrogative sentence:
- Declarative sentence is a statement.
- Imperative sentence could be a given command or a polite request for something.
- Exclamatory sentence is uttered when one is surprised or very happy/sad etc. It ends with an exclamatory mark (!)
- Interrogative sentence asks questions and ends with a question mark (?)
