Parts of a Sentence

A sentence consists of many parts. There are mainly eight parts of speech. Let us get to know these parts.

1. Nouns: Nouns are names of people, places or things etc.
2. Proper Nouns: These are special names of people and places.
3. Verbs: Are action words.
4. Adverbs: Are added to verbs, they describe the verb.
5. Adjectives: Describe a noun.
6. Prepositions: Talk about position and location. They link different parts of the sentence.
7. Conjunctions: Join two are more sentences.
8. Interjections: Mostly convey emotions in a sentence.

Sentence is a group of words that make sense. One can write a book using simple sentences. But to enhance the language, we use many different ways and means. A good sentence should be able to tell us as to what is being said and in what manner.
